Single Men Over 40 - Hot or Not?
Single men in their 40s are in such demand that they suffer from a “hotness delusion syndrome”, a demographer claims.
Their rarity compared to women of the same age means they still receive lots of attention - leading to a delusion about their sex appeal, KPMG demographer Bernard Salt said.
“He can be balding and paunchy. And when he looks in the mirror he doesn't see balding and paunchy, he sees taut, trim and terrific.”
He said the female attention made some middle-aged men think they were “pretty damned hot”.
“Well, you may well be pretty damn hot, but you need to take into account the demographics - you're about the only thing going around.”

Royal Wedding: A Romance to Melt all our Hearts
The following article, as printed in The Mirror, makes a great read and captures the essence of the Royal Wedding....
Prince William and Kate Middleton – or the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they are now known – captivated the world.
It was a day when the monarchy reminded the entire globe that nobody does pomp and ceremony quite like the Windsors.
But despite the impressive displays of pageantry and the epic splendour of this most royal of royal occasions, there was still the kind of intimate mood you get at a typical family wedding.
Because of William’s birthright, there was a right and proper duty to marry in such magnificent fashion.
But Kate is from a much more modest background – and they married out of love and friendship rather than because she is of the correct pedigree – so the historic event was far from stuffy.
The Cinema is good for Romance this month
This film is being hailed as the "romance film of the year. So if you are dating, married or just looking for something to do, get yourself to the cinema and witness the chemistry between Robert Pattinson and Reece Witherspoon.
If you don't have a date to the cinema and think you have tried everything, you haven't until you have visited the Sue James Introductions website where we put chemistry first and make dating safe and enjoyable.

Common Interests Help Drive Relationships
The following article can help you not only with romantic relationships but the relationships you have with friends, work colleagues and family members...
Do you struggle to make some of your relationships work? You may feel awkward or stressed in trying to form a bond.
In making an effort to create closeness with someone, you may have trouble developing a basic friendship.
If so, think about the activities you might enjoy with this person. For example, if you feel awkward around your mother-in-law, try to change something. Come up with a plan, so that both of you can share something fun or meaningful in life.
The Next Royal Wedding???
The nation took a collective gasp when this couple were spotted walking out of Westminster Abbey together. You've got to admit, they make a great looking couple. However, us Royal Wedding enthusiasts shouldn't hold our breath as both Pippa and Harry are already in relationships. Pippa is "madly in love" with her boyfriend, ex-cricketer Alex Loudon and Harry's on/off girlfriend Chelsea Davy is still on the scene.
The Wedding of the Year
What a beautiful wedding it was. I think the love was felt universally that day. Kate looked so beautiful and the whole day went without a single hitch. What made the day truly magical is that for those few hours the world was united through love. Normally, these occasions only occur during war or disaster but we all stopped what we were doing and became embroiled in a genuine fairytale love story.
Roll on the next Royal Wedding and I’m sure I’m not the only person in the world who is hoping Pippa Middleton and Harry hook up. I’ll put the bunting in storage just in case.

Dear Sue James
Dear Sue James
I am in love with my best friend whom I have known most of my life.
He is at University in Wales and I dont get to see him that often, but now we are text messaging each other and they are getting rather intimate! He is coming home soon and we are going out ( as friends ). What should I do? Should I just tell him or should I see what happens?
Please Help!
Anon,
Well Anon,
Crushes on best friends are often fraught with difficulties, and normally end in woe, especially if the crush/affection/lust/love feelings are very strong.
Don't mistake the closeness of best friendship for the closeness of true love, 'going out' to him might just mean nipping to the cafe for a quick coffee. Not being wined and dined etc.
Also, you could terrify him with your confession of undying love. I suggest you continue seeing one another as friends and just let nature take its course. Any shock revelations could ruin your chances with him and ruin the friendship.
What is meant to be will be. I hope this helps.

Twitter = Bad Romance
The romantic relationships of active Twitter users apparently don't last as long as the rest of the population.
A website recently studied more than 800,000 of its users. The study showed people who use Twitter every day tend to have shorter relationships. And the problem gets worse as the person gets older.
Oh dear! Better stick to good old fashioned Introductions - You can't register chemistry online!

5 Ways to Keep The Spark Alive In Your Relationship
Author Jay Hurt works as a salesman, but he has written a relationship book for single folk. He took his own life lessons in relationships and shares them in "The 9 Tenets of a Successful Relationship." He hopes his advice will help singles avoid making same mistakes he has. Here is an abbreviated list of five of the nine tenets he discusses in the book.
Tenet: Communicate clearly and effectively with your mate.
Understanding how we communicate with each other is crucial. Do not leave room for misinterpretation. The genders hear and speak things differently. Men have to read women's context clues. Women should recognize men tend to speak more literally.
Tenet: Don't do anything you wouldn't advise a friend to do.
Often we let our emotional attachment override the common sense we were blessed with. Separate the feeling of being needed as opposed to the feeling of truly being loved and appreciated. We know these things innately when we share our opinions with others.
Tenet: Show Appreciation Make an extra effort to appreciate each other.
Pay attention to your mate's wants more than just their needs. Be there "just because" often, not just on rare occasions.
Tenet: Decide if you can live with the flaws of your mate
No one is perfect, no matter how beautiful, charming, intelligent or classy they are. We have to be able to discern what works for us and what doesn't.
Tenet: Continue to date throughout the relationship Make it a point not to take each other for granted.
Relationships often fall into a routine, and we forget how important it is to continue to date each other. Don't stop salsa dancing, window shopping, walking and even something as simple as eating dinner together. Specify times and places to have dates with each other.
Focussing On Partner's Looks May Ruin Relationships
Here's an interesting article on objectification that I found recently which was posted by the Times of India. It makes for an interesting read especially in out 'image obsessed' society...
Concentrating on your partners' physical attractiveness may make you less happy in relationships, according to a new study.
The study also found that magazines and movies that portray people as sex objects can cause you to see your partner in that light, though not yourself, reports Live Science.
Self-objectification when a person is obsessively concerned about how he or she looks has been shown to affect women's self-image, school performance and life happiness. But this quality hasn't been studied much in the context of romantic relationships.
Partner-objectification, where that focus is placed on a partner's physical qualities over everything else, hasn't been studied at all in this context.

The wedding of the year is soon upon us and news of the royal ceremony is cropping up everywhere in anticipation of the big day. Dear Sue James Introductions...
Dear Sue James,
I am 26, and I have never gone beyond a second date with any guy.
Since I started dating at age 19, I have had a total of 3 boyfriends.
Not too long ago, I went to a party with a room full of eligible men. I was dressed in my very best with just a hint of makeup on, and not one guy looked at me twice.
I know I'm not ugly -- I'm funny, smart, slightly odd and I love sports, especially football; but no matter what sort of smile I throw at a man or any kind of conversation I happen to start, I just cannot seem to have any man take much of an interest in me.
I know this sounds pathetic. Should I continue on the path I've been on for more than seven years?
I dress in sensible but flattering clothes and wear just the right amount of makeup.
I have been using my spare time to try to attract different men in different places, including church. Should I just say to heck with it and focus all of my energy on making a real career for myself?
And before you answer, know that I'd rather not use online dating sites to find a man since you never know what sort of person you're likely to meet.
-Anon
Dear Anon,
You have come to the right place and by the sounds of you, you tick plenty of boxes for plenty of guys.
However, I think the reason you are not having much success is because your approach sounds frenzied and a little desperate. This could come across as pushy and may put men off.
The best way to attract people to you is to be the best version of yourself possible. Be quirky, be confident, be competent and cool. Work on your friendships -- with women and men and you can't go wrong.
I am confident that Sue James Introductions will help you with these confidence issues and teach you the skills required to get the best out of your relationships/dates.
Remember, Sue James Introductions is unlike online dating agencies. We don't match you up and throw you to the lions. We can offer you tips and advice and make dating a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Love Quotes
Looking for inspiration for a few simple, yet romantic words to write in a card for a loved one? You may be an admirer, searching for the words to express your love. Whatever your motive, the best place to start is with the classics. There are some beautiful quotes that really tug at the heartstrings. Here's a few words from doomed poet John Keats. Why not try writing your own and see if you can compete with this classic...
I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion -
I have shudder'd at it.
I shudder no more.
I could be martyr'd for my religion
Love is my religion
And I could die for that.
I could die for you.

Lost Love in the USA
Here's an interesting article I found on the Fox News network.
A new study out in the Social Psychological and Personality Science says that Americans regret love the most.
Here are the top 10 regrets of Americans:
• Romance - The writers wrote that women were higher in this regret because they "value social relationships more than men." Also, those who were not currently in a romantic relationship tended to list this as their biggest regret.
• Family - Sixteen percent of those surveyed said they had a family regret. Again, women cited this regret more than men.
• Education - Those surveyed who had less education were the ones who answered that education was their biggest regret. Thirteen percent of participants listed education as their biggest regret.
• Career - Twelve percent of the partakers in the survey said that they had regrets that were due to their career, and those who had regrets in the career category were more likely to be men – thirty-four percent of men and twenty-seven percent of women.
• Finance- Ten percent had a financial regret.
• Parenting - Nine percent had a regret having to do with parenting. Many respondents even said that they had wished they had decided to work less in order to spend more time with their children.
• Health - Six percent of participants listed a regret having to do with health.
• Other - Five and a half percent had something "other" to report as a regret.
• Friends - Four percent had a regret having to do with friends.
• Spirituality - Two percent regretted something having to do with religion or spirituality.

I Love you - The Movie
I Love you, movie poster |
The following article is taken from the Wall Street Journal and it just goes to show that you are never too old for romance.
Hollywood films such as “Black Swan” and “The King’s Speech” are doing big business at the South Korean box office, but this season’s sleeper hit is a homemade drama about elderly romance, starring actors in their 60s and 70s.
“I Love You,” which is based on a popular Web-based comic series of the same name, is really the story of two romances: a budding one between a widower whose wife died of cancer and a woman left by her violent husband, and a lifelong one between a dedicated husband and his wife, who is suffering from dementia.
You might expect an old-people-in-love story to be a hard sell with young people, but in fact 20-somethings and 30-somethings accounted for 34% and 39%, respectively, of buyers at the ticket-selling site Max Movie. One possible reason: lots of positive word online.
Twitter is full of praise. One fan said he liked “I Love You” because it reflects on death as well as romance. Another said that original comics are difficult to translate into a movie, but that the filmmakers succeeded with this one.
The Love Story of the Year: William and Kate
The love story of the year is Prince William and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton who are set to be married on April 29, 2011. A movie about the couple’s romance is due for release on April 18, just days before the nuptials. The made-for-television movie was commissioned by American cable station Lifestyle. The future princess is played by unknown British actress Camilla Luddington, while New Zealand-born actor Nico Evers-Swindell stars as Prince William. Watch the trailer above.
Celebrity Love: Most Romantic Onscreen Couple
Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio have been voted the most romantic onscreen movie couple by film fans. The Titanic stars beat off the competition which included Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh from Gone With The Wind.
Romance Regrets, Women have a few.
Here's an interesting article I found on romance. Personally, I refer to 'regrets' as experience, life is full of them and we really should refer to them as an opportunity to learn from.
...When it comes to romantic relationships, everyone seems to have made decisions they’d come to regret. In fact, a new study by Neal Roese, a marketing professor at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business, has found that romance is the most common source of regret among Americans.

Sue James Introductions: Dating Tips For Women
Many have the belief that men are generally atracted to women who are hard to get, the whole wanting what you can't have thing works to a degree but my advice is be careful.
I agree, it is much better to play it cool in the initial stages. This gives you time to get to know your date on an equal level. I always recommend that if you realise you like a guy on the first date, the last thing to do is let this be known as you could create the wrong impression. So initially, yes, play it cool and work out how much you like him. Like him enough to go on another date? This is the point that you show your interest. Some women take the 'hard to get' thing too far. If you keep it up, he'll lose interest. Just relax and be yourself. What is meant to be will be.

Sue James Introductions: Dating Tips For Men
I am going to be presenting single men and single ladies with some invaluable dating advice over the forthcoming weeks. Take this on board and you can't go wrong.
Men, often go in for the kill, eminating bravado and confidence, cockiness and assurity. But does this attract women? The answer is NO! If you begin a date with this kind of attitude then you may as well stay at home because this will get you nowhere. All of the above create a sense of arrogance and there is no bigger turn off for women. An arrogant man loves himself, so why would a woman attempt to muscle in on that? My advice is relax, be natural, approachable and calm, you will no doubt be nervous but there is absolutely no harm in letting that show. The secret to success on a first date is to simply BE YOURSELF! Presenting a woman with confident and cocky body language on the first date is the kiss of death.
If you are a single man, living in East Yorkshire and looking for love, then contact Sue James Introductions.

The 7 year Itch....
I found this interesting article the other day on the 7 year itch. It's too interesting not to share on my blog, and a good excuse to use a picture of Marilyn to illustrate the article, so here read for yourself...
The old standard for when a relationship starts to fade is defined by the “7-year-itch.” The implication is that after seven years, couples start to re-evaluate what they have together and stray from each other. But a new study of 2,000 British adults in steady relationships found that the actual time when relationships start to fade is at the three-year-mark.
The study, reported by Reuters, compared answers from people in short term relationships (less than three years) to those in long term ones, including married couples. Read More Here

Cosmic Order True Love
Cosmic Ordering has been around for years and some people swear by it. Why not try Cosmic Ordering to help you find your perfect partner...
1. Start out with a notebook or journal. This should be something you use only for your cosmic ordering. Make it special.
2. At the top of the page write what it is you want. For example:
Dear Universe, with divine love and energy my order is, to find true love with someone with similar interests, a soul mate.
3. In the middle of the page you can put down any thoughts you may have on this.
This could be the idea about what the person looks like, distinctive qualities that you are attracted to, etc. Let your ideas flow here and write whatever comes to mind. It is a bit of creative writing. Don’t edit it; you want to see what you and the Universe together come up with.
Don’t worry if it doesn’t make sense. You want to see what comes out organically you are not thinking here you are creating.
4. At the bottom of the page write, I am open and ready to create my order and thank the Universe for giving you the means and opening the doors that will allow your cosmic order to manifest.
At this point trust in the process. Really give this to the Universe to handle and trust that this or something better is now attracting the necessary vibration that will bring it about.
5. This is a very important part; you do not want to skip this step. Take out your journal and read your order before you start your day. This crucial fifth instruction is essential if you want results. ..
6. Now visualize your order actually happening. Do this on a daily basis. The morning is the best time for this. You haven’t yet started your day and it is much easier to set aside some quite time for the visualization in the morning before you get too busy. Start with at least five minutes then work you way up to twenty.
If your order has been answered the day before, which does happen quite often then write your new order that morning.
The key is to focus on what you want and to concentrate on the positive.Good luck guys.

Love Sue James: Dating Advice
Here are a few basic dating tips to remember before you ask out your potential partner...
1. Ask them out for the right reasons and think about what you expect as a result of them saying yes or no?
2. Be prepared that the person you ask may say no and in which case don't take the rejection personally.
3. When asking someone out choose your moment carefully and practise what you might say in advance so that you don't get your tongue in a twist.
4. Plan ahead. If the person you ask says yes, ensure you already have thought of a place, date and time for the date so that you display signs of thoughfulness.
5. Be prepared for the person asking why you want to date them so that you are able to flatter and create a sense of trust immediately. People can be wary and they may want to know some reasosn behind your request. Better, anticipate this by saying "would you like to come to dinner, I have always thought you are great fun..".
6. Make sure that your request for a date does not pressurize the person in any way. If they want to think about it, let them. But don't pester them.
7. Make sure that when you ask someone on a date you smile and keep things fun and happy. Being confident and smiley will elicit a far more positive response. You don't want to scare them.
8. Always have an alternative date and time or location in mind should the person be unsure of their diary. Giving a person a choice often works wonders.
9. If the person says no, don't chase for a reason, simply move on. They may think about things and get back to you with a yes response later.
10. If you ask someone on a date, make sure that you actually intend to go through with it. Standing people up will ruin your reputation.
11. If you are being asked out don't play childish mind-games. If you need time to consider the offer then say so. If you want to say no, say no. But do not keep someone hanging on for no reason. You wouldn't like the situation if it was reversed.
12. Try to avoid dutch-courage such as using alcohol to boost your courage levels, who knows what kind of monster you could unleash. .
13. Don't ask someone out when they are in a group of friends. Timing is everything.
I hope this helps. If you need any more dating advice and are looking for love in East Yorkshire then don't hesitate to contact me, sue@suejamesintroductions.co.uk I look forward to hearing from you.

Attractive Women + Ordinary Men = Relationship Fail
The Following article was printed in the Telegraph this week, it makes for a very interesting read...
Scientists from Stirling, Chester and Liverpool universities found that beautiful women seem to realise they can pick and choose their mates, whereas an attractive man with a more ordinary woman seemed to be more content and less likely to stray.
The findings might come as scant consolation to Bernie Ecclestone, whose marriage to the model Slavica Ecclestone, ended in 2009. She is almost a foot taller than him and 28 years younger.
Researchers took photographs of men and women in over 100 couples, some of whom had been together for a few months, others for many years, and they were then rated on looks.
The analysis showed that in relationships pairing a "beauty" with an average man, it tended to last only a matter of months.
Rob Burriss, one of the researchers, said: "This would indicate it is the woman who is in control of whether the relationship continues."

Love Sue James: Office Romance
Have a secret crush on someone in the office? Here are some tips on how to turn it into love...
- Make sure you only pursue fellow singletons. The married staff members may be used for harmless flirting ONLY!
- Been flirting with the IT guy but he hasn't asked you out? Some people are very shy about office romance, so make the first move!
- Not sure if the lady in Marketing is the right one for you, try the "it's just lunch" concept and gather a group of like-minded individuals for an inter-office lunch and see how she interacts with everyone, including you.
- Keep it casual. You never know if things will work out with an office romance, so set some simple ground rules from the start so if the relationship ends, there are no hard feelings.
- Copiers can be used for more than printing the quarterly report! Let your imagination run wild and print up some interesting inter-office memos to each other.
- Need to keep your office romance quiet? Be smart about it. Don't drive to work together and park in the company lot! Smooching sessions in the stairwell are also fraught with danger. Keeping it secret is smart for your careers and can add a bit of danger and spice to the relationship.
- Don't hit the "All Company" email address when you call her pet names. It's best to keep your work emails and chats rated PG. In fact, it's probably best to avoid personal messages in work e-mails. Save your sexy messages for home or texts.
- Limit your group trips to the supply closet. If both of you are required to get supplies and it takes 25 minutes to retrieve paper clips and pens, you might raise some suspicions.

How to Start Dating After a Divorce
Day after day I hear the reasons why people can't get a date. Some singles have rich imaginations. Here are the latest testimonials that start in this way:
I can't get a date because...
* Nothing works for me.
* I'm bored with life and no one wants to talk to me.
* The only guy I ever loved married someone else.
* I'm 45, never been married and the odds of my finding someone are zero.
* I'm 64 and divorced three times. Who would want me?
Whatever reason you have for not dating, know this -- just because you don't know how to get a date doesn't mean that you can't. If you want to date, and if you want to meet someone special, you can learn how to do it! To further prove my point, every one of the above people who said these things eventually learned to date, and three out of five of them have already met someone and fallen in love. The other two will also find their partners if they keep working at it. Would you like to know how they did it? First, they changed their minds and stopped thinking it couldn't be done. Second, they took action.

Do these people live out their relationships with romantic status updates and tweet without speaking? Good old eye to eye contact and the art of conversation are everything you need for a loving relationship. Plus, with online relationships, how can you prove what you're hearing/seeing is true. For every success story their is a horror story to match it, so however you decide to date, take my advice and be careful.
If you are looking to meet someone with similar interests in a safe environment then don't hesitate to give me a call.
